Brass backplate for knobs. The central oval is for a knob that will hold the backplate in place. The back view (bottom of photo) has approx. an 1/8" of space that could be filled.. Maybe put elements to be seen through the cut outs...   5-5/8 x 1-3/8 x 1/4".
 
Might clean up nicely, or use them as they are. 
These are vintage salvaged items so have imperfections, discolorations or dirt. Not fond of the color? use paints, inks etc. to alter it.
 
Can be screwed to a door or drawer, as a handle or decorative element for a shrine, small cabinet, box or assemblage etc.
